Nespresso Talents 2020 launches in partnership with Genero

Briefs 12 February, 2020

Nespresso invites filmmakers around the world to create vertical films within the theme ‘Virtuous Circles’ in partnership with Genero.  Selected creators will attend the Cannes Film Festival and receive awards from a pool of €50,000

12th February 2020 – Nespresso Talents is a global celebration of creative filmmaking which challenges creators around the world to bring new angles to an old format with stories told through vertical short films.

Underpinned by partnerships with film festivals, sponsored by Nespresso and operated by Genero, the project celebrates and nurtures the next generation of film talent, bringing their art to discerning film lovers.

For its 5th edition, Nespresso Talents invites creators to submit 2-3 minute vertical films for the opportunity to be flown to Cannes Film Festival and receive awards from a pool of €50,000.

This year Nespresso is empowering creators to use their passion for film as a force for good, under the theme, ‘Virtuous Circles’. The organisers are looking for stories of how one good deed has changed something for the better, how it became a catalyst for something bigger than the action itself.

There are three categories for submissions, with all videos being judged by an international jury and eligible for international awards. Submissions from Mexico, France, Belgium, Spain, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Greece, Russia, Mainland China and the Philippineswill also be entered into a National category and judged by a local jury, and entrants can also select to enter a special category for Nespresso Club Members.

Judges will be looking at specific criteria within the films, including unique use of the vertical format, whether the content is innovative and creative if the theme is well integrated within the story and the standard of production.

During the past four editions of Nespresso Talents, the brand has received more than 1200 applications from 40 countries, revealing talent while providing them with deserved visibility.

Melanie Birnbaum, Nespresso Head of Communications, explains: “Nespresso seeks out people who think differently, who are prepared to go further, push boundaries and demonstrate creativity in what they do. For this reason, we are proud to support film  events, with a focus on young talent and innovation in film.”

Andrew Lane, CEO & Co-founder of Genero said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Nespresso on their 2020 edition of Nespresso Talents. Genero gives creatives in every corner of the globe a chance to have their voices heard and the opportunity to work with global brands and gives brands access to filmmakers who aren’t afraid to think differently and break boundaries with their storytelling. We can’t wait to see what our diverse creative network brings to this very worthwhile initiative”

Submissions are open from today until the 25th March 2020. For full details on the theme, awards and how to submit, visit the Nespresso Talents page here.
