Brandi Carlile celebrates motherhood in official music video for ‘The Mother’ created by female filmmakers

Grammy Award® winning singer, songwriter and performer Brandi Carlile has premiered the official music video for ‘The Mother’ today, which was produced in partnership with Genero.

Released in celebration of Mother’s Day, the heartwarming video was created by an entirely female crew and depicts motherhood from a diverse range of cultures, religions, lifestyles and races.

After inviting women in Genero’s creative network to pitch concepts for the video, Brandi and her team commissioned director Jess Lowe Chaverri—a US-based filmmaker who most recently produced Radiohead’s ‘Man Of War” video and directed CID RIM’s “Control” video.

Jess was joined by an all-female crew including producer Claire McGirr and DP Frances Chen, with the intimate documentary style video following eight families from New York through their everyday routines.

‘The Mother’ comes from Carlile’s critically acclaimed sixth studio album, “By The Way, I Forgive You,” which won three awards at the 2019 GRAMMY® Awards. Carlile was the most nominated female artist at this year’s ceremony, including a nomination for ALBUM OF THE YEAR. This is the fourth video released from the album, following ‘The Joke‘, ‘Party of One‘ and ‘Hold Out Your Hand‘.
