This week we caught up with Brendan Huza, whose video was selected for the Diamond Rings ‘Runaway Love’ project. Brendan explains how the unique sounds of the Diamond Rings inspired him to create an 80’s style animation, paying homage to directors such as John Hughes (‘Ferris Beuller’s Day Off’ and ‘The Breakfast Club’). Brendan also explains how animation can give filmmakers more flexibility in terms of creativity and budgetary constraints;
“I think for me, when I was coming up with the concept for this video, I didn’t know whether it would be a video or an animation. And so, I was thinking , there was no way that I could pull off a video like this, I wouldn’t have the budget, so I think doing this as an animation made it much more feasible, which I think a lot of artists probably feel the same way”.
